For busy family kitchens, nonporous quartz is hard to beat: it resists stains and humidity and never needs sealing. Humidity and Coastal Factors

South Florida humidity is a constant across Broward. It will not harm quartz, which is nonporous, but it makes sealing natural stone worthwhile to keep moisture and stains out. Anything exposed to direct sun should be a UV-stable material: some quartz can discolor over time in strong sunlight, while porcelain and sintered stone are engineered to hold their color outdoors.
